Keep On Moving

KEEP ON MOVING A Personal Journey Through Black British Music Mixed By Spin Doctor   “Mixing is a form of meditation for me as well as a means of expression of what is important to me through music. Loosing myself in music helps me refocus on what is important to me and see what I need to do in life.   The recent focus on BLM has me, like so many of us, thinking not only about my actions as a human and a father but also as a dj and promoter. My professional life was born out of my undying love of and avid collecting of music of all styles but more specifically black music. This obsession has always been underlined by my pride as a Londoner so when I would discover and hear British music that I love it would have an even greater connection.   I found myself exploring through some of my favourite black British music and that gave birth to this mix. It is an expression not only of my love of the music but the times shared in clubs, at festivals, at carnival and concerts over the years with loved ones of all races, religions, nationalities, sexualities and upbringings all brought together through our love of music.   Like so many I am striving to educate myself further and to ‘Keep On Movin’ forward with open eyes, open eyes and an open heart. I know that change is essential and am determined to play my part. This mix is a declaration of love, shared in the spirit of solidarity and in the hope that music can help bring people together, open more eyes, ears and hearts to the beautiful diversity of black British music and it’s ability to...

Q-Tip Fifty 50 Mix

Q-Tip Fifty 50 mixed by Spin Doctor Celebrating 50 years of Q-Tip in 50 tracks   London’s very own Spin Doctor has been a busy boy while in Lockdown. He has created this epic mix dedicated to the powerhouse that is Q-Tip. From A Tribe Called Quest to Solange, Nas to Quincey Jones, the mix explores all aspects of this man’s genius.   There are very few artists that can claim such impact on an entire genre, but A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip can do just that and more. As a member of what is widely agreed to be the greatest Hip-Hop group of all time, as a solo artist and as a producer for the great and the good, Q-Tip’s impact is immeasurable. ISOULECTION

After the huge reaction to his ‘Disco Doctor’ mix Spin Doctor keeps it soulful again as he explains: “In the midst of a 2 week Corona Virus Isolation I’m thinking about good music to bring us through and what better than the sweet sound of Soul. I put together a few of my fave soulful cuts. Not all strictly soul but definitely soulful! Music to lift the spirit and maybe move the body from Al Green, Roy Ayers, Prince, Mary J and more. I’d finished the mix with the incredible “Wake Up Everybody” which felt very right given the current pandemic situation but soon as I had finished the mix I heard the tragic news about Bill Withers (RIP). That hit me hard so I took a moment and shed a tear. Bill’s one of my favourite artists ever and so I had to add a little 3 tune Bill Withers mix to the end of what was already a finished mix opening with ‘I’ll Be With You’ and it’s apt opening line of Bill singing… ‘I’ll be with you till heaven comes and takes me away’. RIP Bill Withers DOWNLOAD HERE  ...
